The Global Research & Policy Institute (GRPI) had the pleasure of supporting Nadeshiko-kai a network of women working in public policy on 13 October.
The session welcomed Izumi Okubo, Senior Protocol Officer at United States Department of State.
In a talk featuring the newly published book "The Unknowns of American Diplomatic Protocol" last week, the speaker shared behind-the-scenes insights into American diplomacy under the Bush, Obama, Biden, and Trump administrations. It was a highly thought-provoking session, highlighting their various experiences in gracefully handling unexpected events behind the scenes of glamorous summit diplomacy—always staying calm, unruffled, and smiling without letting the hard work show.
A Q&A followed with participants posing a variety of questions and joining in a vibrant discussion. Our warm thanks go to Ms. Okubo for taking time out of a packed schedule to share her perspective and to everyone who took part.
GRPI will continue to stand behind Nadeshiko-kai and other public policy initiatives that convene diverse expertise and viewpoints and that open the way to fresh dialogue and new connections.
